Text: “And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.”Gen 39:10
I want to talk to you today about the purity test. Each one of us will have to pass this test in life. Joseph’s master’ wife began to see him lustfully and began to make advances at him. This was an evil opportunity that was presenting itself to Joseph.
The woman was ready to go to any extent to achieve this. She was also ready to do whatever Joseph wanted. If Joseph had agreed the woman would have suggested to her husband to promote Joseph and increase his allowances. The offer would have been mouth watering and irresistible. But Joseph understood clearly that his destiny was at stake.
He knew that the pleasures of sin are nothing compared with the loss of a destiny. He placed more priority on God’s ultimate destiny for him than the temporary pleasures of this world.
We are all faced with this test every day. We live in a world that places more priority on indulgence of the flesh. The world prefer to call it fun than call it sin. Whatever you call it sin will destroy you faster than anything else. If you have to commit sin to get a man to marry you, the man has succeeded in taking you out of destiny. Which one is better to you?
For every young person reading this material you must understand that your destiny is far more important that the pleasures of sin. Sin will take off the hand of God from your life and live you empty, vulnerable and exposed. Ask Samson in the Bible and he’ll have stories to tell you. Don’t give in to peer pressure or the demands of the modern age. Whatever does not glorify God is wrong, avoid it like Joseph did, and better still: FLEE.
In the name of Jesus the power of sin is broken on my life. I work in purity for the rest of my life.
